Paint, paint, paint. A fresh coat of neutral color paint is a great way to make your home look more appealing to buyers. If your home has color’s unique to you, it’s one more thing that buyers are thinking they’ll have to change. Take an item off their to-do list by painting walls a neutral beige or grey.
Pressure wash your house. For a few hundred bucks, you can easily have someone come pressure wash your house, driveway, windows, and fencing. Pressure washing gives your home’s exterior the curb appeal it needs to make potential buyers want to come in.
Declutter. Before listing your home, it’s essential that you declutter. The average home has over 30,000 items. To get it ready to sell, consider doing the minimalist challenge for a month. On day 1 throw away or donate one item. On day 2, throw away or donate two items. Keep up with this pattern until day 30, where you’re donating or throwing away 30 items.
Clean. Invest in a housekeeper to get your home ready for showings. When we live in our homes, we tend to become oblivious to some dirty spots in our home. But as buyers walk through, those spots can often jump out at them. Most likely, a housekeeper will be able to spot dirt in places you’ve never noticed.
Freshen the landscaping. Did winter do some damage to your plants this year? Consider replacing any dead plants in your yard before your realtor takes photos of your home. Trim back any shrubs and make sure your lawn and edging is kept up nicely.
